Once more, gay activists in Washington D.C. have held a large public rally with the goal of normalizing homosexual sexual activity in America, and to push for laws that will effectively downgrade the special place of marriage in our civilization.
This event took place in view of the Capital building, and with many of the speakers using choice quotes and references to the founding fathers, the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.
One can only wonder what men like John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton and George Washington would have thought about men and women who – not only proclaim “pride” in their sexual immorality – but then expect the Unites States of America to make laws that validate immoral acts such as sodomy as some kind of treasured “right,” as well as the dubious so-called hate crimes bill.
And while it’s true that the founding fathers were not all religious men in the strictest sense, to a man they made it clear that Judeo-Christian morality was the stabilizing force in this new country with no King, state-approved religious denomination or dominant ethnic group to unite citizens.
The idea that the public square in America would eventually be stripped of all references to God’s blessings, his Scripture, his Commandments or his binding moral truths – would have been unthinkable to these men.
How can it be that his nation, which was started and lived in by men and women who recognized God’s laws and gave much thanksgiving to their creator for his many blessings, now has citizens who expect that God’s laws on marriage be trampled upon, and that sexual license be enshrined as some kind of “right?”
No civilization has ever survived for long without a unifying set of moral values; if we as a society continue to insist that sodomy between two men is a “marriage,” we are truly entering a time of rapid cultural nihilism.

And Notre Dame is funding students to participate in this event. No not as counter protesters, to actually publically preach contrary to the Church!
I agree with you completely. The bible is very clear in Genesis that man shall leave his father and mother do be joined to his wife…It does not say joined to his husband… As true Christians, we need to write our congressmen (Senators especially) and let them know we are against any legislation that allows homosexual marriage in the U.S.
I am trying to remember why I subscribed to this blog. I’m gay, and have never agreed with the Vatican on their stance on this issue.
Looks like this is a party-line blog.
I’m not party line. I support gay marriage (your use of the word “homosexual” is common…you don’t want to lend any credence that we are more than just a sexual phenomenon).
Don’t worry. I’m leaving now.
There is no party-line here…just 100% faithfulness to Jesus Christ and the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. Call it, perhaps, the thrill of Orthodoxy.
Homosexual orientation is not a sin. Sexual immorality is just as sinful for HETEROsexuals as it is for gays.
The problems is that gays are still called to chastity, even though they can never express their sexuality within marriage, and THAT is an extremely hard cross to bear.
I am sympathetic because I am a very sensual person with a high sex-drive and I feel like God might be calling me to life-long celibacy, possibly within a religious vocation. This means I will never be able to express my sexuality with God’s blessing. And I know that, even though sex itself is good, to go against God’s will produce no good fruit in my life.
This is very difficult because of original sin we are inclined to desire things that are disordered. I believe that through prayer Jesus heals and strengthens us, and purifies our desire. God can bring good through our suffering, but he does not delight in our suffering.
If you are seeking the will of Christ, ask Him to show it to you in your life.
Please read John Paul II’s Theology of the Body in an attempt to appreciate God’s original plan for human sexuality and the complementarity of the sexes.
Looking at the positive, that is the GOODNESS of God’s Creation culminating in the Man AND Woman completing and reflecting the image of God in chaste sexual union (impossible with homosexual acts) makes it easier to accept the seriousness of sexual sin, and laws protecting marriage and family. They aren’t rules to make you feel bad and dirty, but guidelines pointing us to that for which we are Created.
