Thank you for the comment. My reactions:

-There is one teaching in the Catholic Church on homosexual acts; if you mean there are dissenters to this, yes, that is true
-I think it's significant that you label Catholics who are faithful to the Bible, Sacred Tradition and Papal teachings as "homophobes" - that's not very tolerant
-You are correct, gay people are God's children; but he wishes none of his children to sin
-'Inclusiveness' is an ideological word - it's not a Christian word; Remember when Jesus forgave St. Mary Magdalen for her sexual sins? He forgave her, and then said: "Go,and sin no more." We all must pay attention to this
-People at Universities "debate" what the Bible means; Catholics read the Bible "in the Church," which is to say that they defer to the Church's teaching on a given passage; both the Old and New Testaments are clear that homosexual acts are immoral - there is no debate about this among faithful Catholics

it's worth reminding the Catholic homophobic lobby that there is not one view in the Catholic church. The Church of Christ (the Catholic Church) has many strands and the Vatican's view in the case of homosexuality is incorrect - history will prove this jsut as history has proved many bigotted prejudices. The holy spirit will ultimately reveal that gay people are god's children and deserve to be understood.

Jesus was overwhelmingly about love and an honest and thorough reading of the bible in fact reveals that. Jesus and the apostles (including Paul) preached inclusivity and a building of the church.

Homophobes are in fact doing a disservice to the Church and Christianity. it is they who are refusing to allow a deep and honest debate about what the bible says about homosexuality and what Jesus taught.

I think the two comments from the reader above really illustrates how the debate about homosexuality and gay marriage is experienced in America. The Catholic view is reasonable (i.e. we have reasons for what we believe) and doesn't engage in name-calling.

Informed Catholics wish to debate the issue, while gay activists simply want to shut down the conversation by labeling anyone who disagrees with them as a "horrible person" who has no business articulating Christian views.

And while you will most likely delete both these posts, that makes you a horrible human being for denying me my right to free speech.

Well Mr. Lucey,
You make several bad points that have no basis behind them except Bible scriptures and words from the Catholic church. If you wish to actually make good points then I would advise using scientific research and words tht actually have basis. So I would say that also by claiming it as "natural law" then your defying the law of the rights of every man, woman and child in the United States of America, so I seriously believe you need to stop talking about mindless Catholic values and listen to the rights of the people, not what you believe is your right as a Catholic. Your a person, and your religion matters little compared to the actual rights of the people.
Sincerely,
Sean
