The TV Commercial below hit the airwaves in Phoenix some time back and helped return many Catholics to their faith. Catholics Come Home created the commercial and set up a website that helps Catholics answer many tough questions about their faith.
Using the media in such a way, very much conforms to the exhortations of Pope John Paul II who wrote in his Apostolic letter, The Rapid Development:
“Communication permeates the essential dimensions of the Church which is called to announce to all the joyful message of salvation. For this reason, the Church takes advantage of the opportunities offered by the communications media as pathways providentially given by God to intensify communion and to render more penetrating the proclamation of His word.”
The Catechism of the Catholic Church urges ordinary Catholics to use the media, including TV and the Internet to spread the Good News:
“906 Lay people who are capable and trained may also collaborate in catechetical formation, in teaching the sacred sciences, and in use of the communications media.”
